CollegeCribs is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to Gonzaga University, or any other college or university in any way.

CollegeCribs does not represent the views, policies, or positions of any academic institution. University names are referenced solely for geographic and contextual purposes to help students identify off-campus housing near their school.

Any university trademarks, logos, or names belong to their respective institutions. CollegeCribs makes no claim to any university intellectual property.

Platform Liability — Section 230

CollegeCribs operates as an interactive computer service under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. § 230). As such, CollegeCribs is not the publisher or speaker of any user-submitted content and is not liable for reviews, ratings, comments, or other content posted by users of the platform.

CollegeCribs does not verify the accuracy of user-submitted reviews and makes no representations about any property, landlord, or rental listing on the platform. Users are solely responsible for the content they submit.

Reviewer Protections

Students who leave honest, good-faith reviews on CollegeCribs are exercising their First Amendment right to free speech. Truthful statements of fact and genuine expressions of opinion based on personal experience are protected forms of expression under United States law.

Landlords, property managers, or any third parties who threaten or pursue legal action against students for leaving honest reviews may be engaging in a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP). Many U.S. states have enacted anti-SLAPP laws specifically designed to protect individuals from such actions.

To protect yourself when leaving a review:

• ✓Only state things you personally witnessed or experienced
• ✓Clearly distinguish between facts and your personal opinion
• ✓Avoid making claims you cannot substantiate
• ✓Do not include false statements of fact
• ✓Stick to your own direct experience as a tenant

Defamation Policy

While CollegeCribs strongly supports the right of students to share their honest experiences, we do not permit knowingly false statements of fact. The distinction matters:

Landlord Dispute Process

If you are a landlord or property manager who believes a review contains false factual statements about you or your property, you may submit a formal dispute to hello@collegecribs.app.

All disputes are reviewed in good faith. We may remove or edit content that we determine, at our sole discretion, violates our community guidelines. Submitting a dispute does not guarantee removal of content.

CollegeCribs encourages landlords to respond publicly to reviews through our landlord response feature, which provides a fair and transparent way to address tenant concerns.
